Fall Season in Savannah
Written by: Eloise Goldstein
Fall has always been my favorite season. From the chilly weather to the beautiful colors and pumpkin spice lattes, everything about it screams happiness to me. Out of all the places to spend this season, I think Savannah is one of the best. All of the neighborhoods put up Halloween decorations, and I love walking or biking around, exploring the spooky decorations. As one of America’s most haunted towns, Savannah has year round ghost tours, cemetery explorations, and old haunted houses, but during the spooky season, it gets even creepier. Night walks around town with Spanish moss hanging from the trees make everything seem scarier.
One of the very best parts about spending fall in Savannah is the change in weather. After months of heat, humidity, and bugs, the chill in the air is a wonderful change. One of my favorite fall activities when the weather is nice is visiting a pumpkin patch. Holiday Farms in Ridgeland, South Carolina, is a really fun patch with a hay ride, shop, and more fun activities. Poppell Farms in Odum, Georgia, is another great one with a really fun corn maze!
Another great thing to do is go to fall festivals. The Isle of Hope Art and Music Festival is a festival with a lot of art booths, food trucks, and live music! It showcases a lot of local artists and businesses and will be open on October 25 from 10 am to 8 pm.
Of course, a classic fall thing to do is go to a cafe, and Savannah has so many. From Franklin’s to Foxy Loxy to the Collins Quarter, everywhere you turn has a great cup of coffee or a pastry to enjoy. I love getting to spend my favorite season in such a great city.
