Sage Cafeteria Review
by Tanner Kaminsky
Though it may be tacit, the school has a collective understanding that lunch, especially in the Sage Cafeteria, is the zenith of the day. Just this year, a new head of the dining hall was appointed, and the new addition has definitely not gone unnoticed. We’ve recently indulged in new regulars to our lunch-usually linear menu, like the crispy Mac and Cheese Balls, the oddly gristly Bao Buns served with sautéed shrimp, and the Mediterranean-curated falafel! The consensus is positive: I’ve seen many peers come back for seconds and thirds of the Mac and Cheese Balls, gathering in large, dense herds at the stations (impeding faculty and other students from passing through), parading their paper boats around like some rare collector’s item that friends merely gawk at. The salad and soup bar is also a reliable option, as they’ve recently added pickled onions to the plethora of toppings – if that’s your thing. Additionally, the panini press station is similarly well-stocked and highly populated, and I’ve definitely continued to notice many innovative sandwich concoctions – so keep it up! My personal favorite lunchroom meal is the General Tso’s Chicken with Jasmine Rice, and I’ve yet to see this served, though I haven’t completely lost hope. Holistically, the lunchroom continues to leave me staggering, from lukewarm broccoli cheddar soups to debatable chicken. I’m sure even Ina Garten would be pleased by our nachos and cheese sauce!
