Campus Life

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already been in school for 33 days—and fall break is just around the corner! In only 13 more days, students will get a much-needed pause. Seniors even get an extra-long break this year, with five days off, thanks to the PSAT taking place on the Wednesday after classes resume.

This fall has already been packed with school spirit and exciting events. Our Hornets brought the energy during Homecoming, defeating the Warriors in a fantastic football game that had the whole crowd buzzing. Volleyball has also seen an incredible turnout this season. The Hornet girls will wrap up their home schedule with Senior Night, and off a match against Richmond Hill.

Homecoming Week itself was a major success. Each day brought creative themes and great participation: Monday showcased movie characters like Minions, Top Gun pilots, Men in Black agents, and Smurfs. Tuesday had students sporting their best grill dads vs. soccer moms looks, Wednesday was all about class colors, and Thursday wrapped it up with class themes.

Even with the fall heat outside (and the classrooms staying ice-cold inside), students are settling into routines. Teachers have been quicker about putting out Yondr magnets, and the race for senior parking spots is as competitive as ever—the lot is usually packed by 7:58!

There’s even more to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Flag football kicks off its season this week, promising plenty of action. Meanwhile, Model UN, Speech and Debate, and Mock Trial are all gearing up for busy seasons of their own.

From sports to academics, spirit days to clubs, this fall has been full of energy—and it’s only just beginning. Be sure to come out and support our Hornets at all the exciting events this fall and winter!
