Track and Field

Written by: Charlie Hawkins

The Track 2025 season has been a great time so far.  With a great group of athletes and dedicated leadership that shows on and off the track. Led by captains, Andrew Wynn, Mims Semones, Charlie Pope, Andrew Nicholson, and Kent Burnett. Every person has their own role and how they need to achieve their best every time they compete.

On the girls' side, standout performances have come from Ansley Pedigo, Ansley Chesire, Aarya Patel, and Cindy Murray, who have already shattered their school record not once, not twice, but three times this year in the 4 by 800m relay with a time of 10.08.14. Their consistency, focus, and drive to improve have been inspiring to the entire team. I’m sure they will break their record again this season!

Nick Bell had his debut in track. A star high jumper with a bright future who’s looking to pursue track all four years of high school with quitting football next year to focus on his main sport. As we approach next week’s region meet, the stakes are higher than ever. The top finishers will move on to sectionals, and from there, the ultimate goal is the State Championship. Every athlete is locked in and ready to rise to the occasion, pushing themselves and each other to perform at their absolute best.

This season has been filled with an incredible number of Personal Records across every event—from sprints to distance, and from hurdles to throws. With a great senior night filled with many seniors. Everyone has a role to play, and each athlete knows what it takes to give their all every time they step onto the track or into the field. Our next meet is next week at Savannah Christian. Come out and support your track stars and see who will make it to the state championship!
