Swim

The Savannah Country Day School Swim Team is made up of key athletes from the classes of 2028 and 2029. Head Coach Krista Wolk clearly coaches the team well, as they were very successful at their last two meets in November. Even though this is a young team, don’t underestimate them, as they came ready to swim at the Pumpkin Plunge Invitational.

The Pumpkin Plunge Invitational, hosted by Richmond Hill, took place on November 8. The high-point swimmer of the team was Sophia Wade with 11 points. Some other recognitions from the last meet consisted of Warner Hassel dropping 4 seconds in the 100 Back, Henley Horowicz dropping 6.5 seconds in the 100 Back, and Sophia Wade dropping 10 seconds in the 100 Free. She also placed 8th in the 100 Breast. Hajian Lee swam in his first meet for SCDS and made very important contributions to the team.

Cameron Dudasko was out with an injury and was unable to swim in the last meet. Even though she wasn’t able to physically partake in the event, her positive attitude helped carry the team through. This kind of character, shown by Cameron and many other members of the swim team, is the kind that Savannah Country Day School wants all of its students to embody: kindness and empathy, honor and integrity, and respect and responsibility.

A recent interview with the athletes of the swim team revealed things they wish people knew about the sport. They stated, “swimming takes full-body strength”, “no one is trying to put each other down; instead, they want to bring you up”, and “excelling at the sport requires a certain level of mental toughness and a strong work ethic.” The SCDS swim team embodies strong character.
