Female Athlete of the Issue: Lauren Lewis

Written by: Helen Culver

For this edition of The Buzz, Lauren Lewis has been selected as Female Athlete of the Issue. Lauren has been a dedicated member of the Country Day community since Pre-Kindergarten, and throughout the years, she has consistently demonstrated leadership, commitment, and school spirit. In addition to her success on the field, Lauren is actively involved in school life through her participation in Service Council, where she helps support initiatives that positively impact the school community.

Lauren has been playing soccer since first grade, and what started as simple encouragement from her mom turned into her sport. From third through seventh grade, she played competitive club soccer for the Savannah United Premier travel team, where she developed her technical skills. One of her favorite memories from those years was winning the regional championship two years in a row. Even more special, she continues to play alongside many of the same teammates today, strengthening the bonds they built years ago.

Now a senior, Lauren serves as one of the starting defenders for the Country Day Hornets. Her leadership and defensive strength have contributed greatly to the team’s success, including their impressive 8–2 victory over Groves. Lauren is especially looking forward to the state playoffs this season and the memories she will make during her final year. She values the close community of the team and appreciates the opportunity to connect with teammates across different grade levels.

When asked about her coach, Lauren shared, “Mr. Hooker is a great coach and has helped us form a great team!” As she finishes her senior season, Lauren hopes to continue growing alongside her teammates and finish her senior year alongside her teammates and friends.
