Cross Country

The Savannah Country Day School’s cross country team is off to an amazing start this fall. With the season just starting, they have already had four meets and excelled in all of them. The girls won third place overall in their first few meets, and the boys are always finishing strong with multiple PRs as they go. There is a lot of young talent on the team with many new freshmen making their varsity debuts. We hope to see great things from them in the future. Exceptional performances come from our two seniors, Lily Barrow and Charlie Pope. Lily has achieved a 20:32:64 5k with an average pace of 6:38 per mile during the meet at Savannah Christian, scoring 4th overall. Charlie won ninth overall in the meet at the Honey Ridge Agricenter in Guyton with an outstanding time of 17:58:05. His average pace was 5:47 per mile.

This season has been full of personal records, some runners shaving off minutes, which is almost impossible to do in this sport. Everyone on the team is a huge asset, and I’m sure all of their hard work will pay off during the rest of the season. This season is off to an incredible start, and I’m sure the SCDS cross country team will continue to do great things. Wish them luck in their next few meets! Come out to support!
