Movie Review: KPop Demon Hunters

Written by: Kai Niederwanger

After watching K-Pop Demon Hunters, I can confirm that the hype is real. Coming from a novice in the K-Pop genre of music, the soundtrack had some hits that include “Golden” and the delightful and catchy melody of “Soda Pop”, the music pairs well with the unique art style that looks stunning with a crystalized, eye-candy color grade.

However, aside from a shallow plot that has minimal substance, I have seen more bold movies similar to K-Pop Demon Hunters such as Daft Punk’s 2003 masterpiece Interstella 5555:The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. Other films have done this type of movie but where Demon Hunters shines is in its high octane level of pacing. Jumping from scene to scene at a lightspeed pace, the film feels like a rollercoaster that is enjoyable throughout, my main criticism is when the film slows down and takes itself too seriously with no clear direction.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is all that it needs to be, a perfect film for the family with a serviceable plot and interesting enough characters with real development as the film progresses. I would recommend that everyone should try this movie out and enjoy one of the most carefree and fun movies of the year.

Final Review 4.5/5 Stars
