Amanuensis
Written by: Ian Rogers
Every spring, our student body showcases the work of talented student artists and writers in the pages of Amanuensis, our annual magazine. Our Faculty Advisors, Ms. Duthu and Mrs. Floyd, have watched this club grow in members and included work over the last few years. This year, the club comprised over twenty underclassmen with four senior head editors. Starting in January, we encouraged our High School body to submit work for review, and in mid-February, we began to revise submitted work and put together our magazine. We finished composing it by the end of March, with ninety pages of student work. This year’s artist spotlight was on senior Agnes Brown, who has consistently submitted incredible work since her freshman year. She will be taking her talent to SCAD in the fall. Our author spotlight was on senior Nicholas Dunne for his haunting short story after he had also submitted work for multiple years. In April, our party planners took the wheel and orchestrated cookies, beverages, and cake for our release party on Tuesday, the 15th.
Hours of work have gone into this body of work from our advisors and our students. It is only a testament to how our campus is filled with talent. Looking ahead, I can predict this magazine will only grow further as each year we have more and more submissions and pages to fill.
