Artist of the Issue: Dabney Anderson

Written by: Eloise Goldstein

This issue’s Artist of the Issue is Dabney Anderson. Dabney is a sophomore who has been acting since she was in first grade. She was most recently in a production of Annie at the Savannah Theatre as July the orphan and an NYC Showgirl. Annie was her first professional stage show and she created an audition tape to try out, which included acting, dancing, and singing. Theatre is Dabney’s passion and she loves acting on stage and performing for people. She auditions for shows all the time and says that although you’re not going to make every show you audition for, you should always keep trying. Dabney loves musical theater and some of her favorite shows she’s ever done are Seussical, which she was in twice, and Fiddler on the Roof, an upper school show she was chosen to be in when she was in seventh grade. She takes a lot of acting classes and workshops, including dancing, improv, and film workshops, which she took a lot of on the New York City school trip last year. Dabney also participates in the Savannah Children’s Theatre which she has done many shows with including Newsies as Medda and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as Clarice. In the future, she wants to continue pursuing acting and prefers acting on stage over film. One of her favorite things about theater is the community it builds. She is always happy doing what she loves to do with other people who adore it just as much as she does.
