Spring Campus Life

Written by: Sarah Sussman

Spring is in full swing at Savannah Country Day, and campus life has been vibrant with events, celebrations, and a few surprises as we head into the final stretch of the school year.

The Junior and Senior Prom, held the weekend of April 11, was a night to remember. With a packed dance floor, thoughtful details, and a strong turnout, the evening was a huge success and gave upperclassmen the chance to celebrate together in style. The following Monday, the seniors took the day to rest and recharge — a spontaneous tradition that, while not officially scheduled, has become a familiar part of prom.

On April 16, we hosted Fine Arts Night, an evening that showcased the incredible talent across our visual and performing arts programs. Guests moved through galleries of student artwork while enjoying performances from choir, orchestra, and jazz band, each group delivering pieces that reflected both skill and creativity.

The next evening, April 17, members of the Upper School Theatre Department traveled to Atlanta for the Shuler Awards, where Savannah Country Day received multiple nominations for its winter musical 9 to 5. Students and faculty involved in the production were recognized not just for performance, but for technical and scenic excellence — a proud moment for the arts community on campus.

And in a more peaceful moment of spring joy, Mrs. Smith’s class spent the afternoon of April 17 flying kites outside, taking advantage of clear skies and good wind :))))

As the school year winds down, there’s a noticeable sense of momentum. Finals, performances, and projects are around the corner, but so is the satisfaction of everything we’ve accomplished. Whether you’re a senior preparing for your next chapter or a freshman finishing your first year of high school, this season is about finishing strong — with intention, integrity, and pride in the community we have at SCDS!
