Editor of the Issue: Eloise Goldstein

By Suri Desai

The beginning of the school year is always hectic: there are brand-new classes, tons of practices, rehearsals, club meetings, games, and performances to attend. Yet, in the midst of her classwork, social life, and numerous extracurricular commitments, there are few people as committed to The Buzz as Eloise Goldstein.

Not only is Eloise the only person I know who has a club meeting during every single lunch period or break, but she also runs a tutoring program for lower schoolers in the mornings, and still manages to both act and run projections for the one-act play. You’d think that being this busy, she wouldn’t be fully present, but it’s actually the opposite. Eloise dedicates herself fully to every club she’s in, and the work she’s done for The Buzz is no exception.

Eloise has written about everything from fall fashion to campus life, and her enthusiasm shines through in every sentence she writes. Eloise wrote an amazing review of The Laundry Diner, which, in Eloise’s words, is “one of [her] new favorite breakfast places.” She shares her favorite menu items, admires her waitress’s gummy bear earrings, and tells readers of Michael Kors’s recent visit (if they weren’t already convinced by her endorsement, they could trust his).

No matter what kind of article she’s writing, Eloise engages readers with vivid details and relatable musings, which are especially evident in her “You Know You’re A Freshman When…” article co-written with Zane Hermberg, in which Eloise shares key ways to spot a freshman (now sophomores), including having a senior invite them to prom or seeing them crowd Livingston at break.

If you look at Eloise’s schedule, you might wonder how she ever finds time to write. However, it’s clear to all of us at The Buzz that Eloise doesn’t write out of obligation, but out of a genuine desire to share stories and spread joy throughout campus. Eloise, thank you so much for sharing your dedication, your enthusiasm, and your curiosity with us. We can’t wait to see you grow even more this school year!
