As the school year winds down, both teachers and students brace themselves for the flurry of events that come with the spring season and look forward to sunny summer days. Though it is the seniors who we celebrate the most, juniors who breathe the biggest sigh of relief, and sophomores who try to ignore the horror stories the juniors have told them, it is the freshmen who have grown the most.
Once wide-eyed and enthusiastic, they don’t just bring naivete but they also bring a fresh new perspective– and freshman Cora Lee has brought both her joyful spirit and her original insights to the Buzz this year.
Cora began the year with plenty of tips on how to enjoy the fall season when school is bogging you down, coming up with creative ideas such as making a fall-themed study aesthetic and creating a seasonal playlist. She offered a new perspective on the “gloomy” season of winter by sharing all of its best perks (no mosquitoes, no sunburns and no humidity) and challenged the romantic nature of Valentine’s Day by highlighting its consumerist nature.
To end off the year, Cora wrote an article that related to the worries of many teenagers today– not knowing enough financial skills in order to succeed in the real world, despite having excelled in the classroom. In her final article of the year, Cora doesn’t just state her opinion but she also actively advocates for change in how we prepare students for the real world.
Overall, Cora is more than just a dedicated staff member, but someone who lets her personality and insights shine through their work. In it, she isn’t afraid to explore new topics, share suggestions, and help readers consider a new perspective. She also simply makes reading articles fun, and is able to capture a reader’s attention instantly with her catchy titles and an enthusiasm that radiates from the page.
In a season that celebrates new beginnings and looking toward the future, we at the Buzz are so grateful to have Cora, who is always willing to lend a hand and write a great article. With all of our amazing members, we know that next year’s Buzz will be fantastic!
